Tooth Gem FAQ

  • Temporary Method: Temporary placements are designed to fall off naturally within 2 days to 1 week.
  • Semi-Permanent Method: Semi-permanent placements are designed to last 6+ months with proper care.

If your semi-permanent gem falls off within two weeks of your appointment, contact us, and we may replace it at no charge. However, if post-care instructions are not followed (and we’ll be able to tell!), replacements will not be covered.

Treat your tooth jewelry the same way you would an orthodontic bracket:

  • Avoid biting into hard foods (e.g., apples, nuts).
  • Steer clear of super sticky foods (e.g., caramel, gum).
  • Refrain from biting objects like pens or nails out of habit.

Tooth gem removal must be done by your primary dental care provider. At this time, we do not offer removal services. Please note that the removal fee will be determined by your dental care provider.

Tooth gems applied to the outer layer of your tooth do not cause damage when properly cared for. However, if oral hygiene is neglected, bacteria can accumulate under the gem, potentially leading to tooth decay.

To prevent this, we recommend having your tooth gem removed every 12 months for a full cleaning underneath—similar to maintenance for orthodontic appliances.
